Assignment: After observing several fossils in the classroom, write a comment in this blog or a paragraph in your notebook about the following two questions:

1. What did you learn after your fossil observation?

2. How is the fossil record an evidence of evolution?

Homologous Structure Homework

French biologist Jean Baptiste Lamarck suggested that when body parts or organs of different living things are similar in structure the organisms are biologically related. He called such similar body parts of organs "homologous".

Assignment: Write a paragraph answering these two questions:

• When different animals have similar structures, is it because they are related or because they share similar environments?

• If different animals have homologous structures, what would that indicate about their evolutionary history?
